Sanatana Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Sanatana mobile and web application accesses, processes, retains, and shares information. Sanatana provides scripture-grounded educational guidance and does not require users to create an account.
Request deletion of your data
Sanatana does not provide user accounts and does not save chat history in a user profile. You may still ask us to delete identifiable information associated with a support request, diagnostic report, or app interaction.
- Email info@codeprobe.in with the subject Sanatana Data Deletion Request.
- Include your device platform (Android, iOS, or web), the approximate date and time you used the app, and a brief description of the data you want deleted. Do not include sensitive chat content unless it is necessary to locate your request.
- We will acknowledge your request within 7 days and complete deletion of data we can reasonably identify within 30 days.
If we cannot identify a record because Sanatana has no account identifier or saved chat history, we will explain that in our response. We may retain limited information only when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or to document completion of the request.
Information processed
- Questions and conversation context: When you ask a question, the text and a limited amount of recent conversation context are sent securely to Sanatana's backend and to Google's Gemini API to generate an answer. Sanatana does not save this chat content in its knowledge database or create a user profile from it.
- Voice input: If you choose the microphone feature and grant permission, your device's speech-recognition service converts speech to text. Sanatana receives the resulting text but does not save or upload raw audio recordings to its backend. The operating-system speech provider may process voice data under its own privacy terms.
- Crash and diagnostic information: Firebase Crashlytics may collect crash traces, app version, device model, operating-system information, timestamps, and installation identifiers so we can diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
- Push notifications: If you choose to enable notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging processes an app-instance token, notification topic subscriptions, delivery information, and notification interactions. Sanatana subscribes the device to a general topic and a topic matching the language selected in the app. Notification content does not include chat questions or answers.
- Advertising measurement: Releases used for Meta advertising may send limited app events to Meta, such as app activation, submitting a question, receiving an answer, or starting voice input. These events do not include question text, answers, scripture references, selected language, contact information, or a Sanatana user ID. Sanatana configures these events for aggregate advertising measurement and conversion reporting rather than personalized audience targeting.
- Technical request information: Our hosting provider may process limited network and request metadata such as IP address, user agent, request ID, route, status code, and timing information for security, abuse prevention, and service operation.
- Support communications: If you email us, we receive the email address and information you choose to provide.
How information is used
We use information only to answer questions, provide voice input, deliver notifications you opt into, keep the service secure and available, measure aggregate advertising performance, troubleshoot crashes, respond to support and deletion requests, and improve app reliability. Sanatana does not sell personal information or use chat content for advertising.
Service providers
Information may be processed by Google Gemini for response generation, Google Firebase Crashlytics for diagnostics, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for opted-in push delivery, Vercel for backend hosting and operational logs, and Meta for aggregate advertising measurement when Meta App Events is enabled in a release. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. We do not send chat content to Meta or in push-notification subscriptions.
Retention
- Chat messages and recent conversation history are held in app memory for the current session and are not saved by Sanatana to a user account or chat-history database.
- Firebase Crashlytics retains crash reports and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging retains app-instance and delivery data according to Google's Firebase retention terms. Disabling notifications in Sanatana removes the app's topic subscriptions.
- Operational request metadata is retained only for service operation and troubleshooting, generally for no longer than 30 days.
- Meta controls retention of advertising measurement events under its own data policy and user controls. Sanatana does not retain a separate copy of these events.
- Support and deletion-request correspondence is normally deleted within 30 days after the request is completed, unless longer retention is legally required.
Security
We use encrypted HTTPS connections and restrict production credentials to server-side systems. No internet service is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
Children's privacy
Sanatana is a general educational application and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly create profiles for or intentionally collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its service providers change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
